1-Day Wildlife Tour in Kaeng Krachan National Park
Kaeng Krachan National Park is Thailand's largest national park, protecting a vast stretch of pristine rainforest along the border with Myanmar. It's one of the country's top destinations for birdwatching and general wildlife watching, thanks to its size and its relatively undisturbed forest. This full-day tour is built around a series of slow wildlife drives combined with quiet forest walks, giving you the best chance to spot birds, mammals and other forest life while also soaking up the scenery of one of Thailand's wildest corners.

Booking Tip: As we have a limited number of specialist wildlife guides, booking well in advance is highly recommended to secure a guide for your preferred date.
*Important Pick-up Information: Not every hotel is within our pick-up range for this tour. Since Kaeng Krachan is a fairly remote park, we highly recommend confirming your hotel's exact location with us before booking your accommodation, so that a pick-up from the Kaeng Krachan town. Transfers from Bangkok, Cha-am, Hua Hin can be arranged.
Detailed Day Itinerary
Hotel Pickup
We will meet you at your hotel in Kaeng Krachan town or another pick-up location we agreed on for an early start into the park.
Entering the Park
We enter the national park and start with a slow drive, actively looking for wildlife along the road as the forest wakes up.
Forest Clearings & Ponds
We stop at some open forest clearings or ponds along the way to look for birdlife and other creatures that come out into these open spaces.
Listening & Scanning for Wildlife
We continue on foot, moving slowly through the jungle to listen and scan for any of the animals that occur here, from calling birds to signs of larger mammals.
Lunch at the Park Restaurant
We take a break for lunch at the park restaurant. Even around here, you might spot interesting birdlife or other wildlife while you eat.
Streamside Birdwatching Trail
In the afternoon we walk a dirt road through tall forest along a stream, which offers good views into the canopy. This area is rich in bird species, with a chance of seeing mammals and other critters as well.
Safari Drive
We spend the late afternoon on a safari drive, exploring waterholes and the forest edges along the road, where we hopefully spot some more species before the day ends.
Return Transfer
The tour ends and we drop you off at your hotel, or you can meet your taxi onward to your next destination.
What to Pack & Preparation Tips
- Footwear: Closed-toe hiking shoes or sturdy sports shoes are recommended for walking on forest trails and dirt roads.
- Attire: Long trousers and lightweight, breathable long-sleeved shirts are highly recommended to protect against branches and insects.
- Leech Socks: During the rainy season (May-October), leech socks are highly recommended. Your guide will provide them if necessary.
- Sun & Insect Protection: Mosquito repellent, sunscreen, and a hat.
- Gear: A small daypack for water, and binoculars or a camera for wildlife and birdwatching.

Great Tour, we saw Monkeys, turtles, butterflies and beautiful birds thanks to the guide, who was always helpful and gave us a lot of information about the animals!

The guide and driver were very good, knowledgeable and thoughtful. We had a lot of flexibility to have an entire day tailored to our needs. I would not change the driver or the guide, however, given the season, it was very difficult to see any animals. Good amount of birds which was lovely but animals were scarce.

Both our guide and our driver were highly motivated to make this tour as impressive, informative and enjoyable as possible for us. We spent the whole day from early morning to early evening scouting for animals and got to see a great variety of wildlife. We enjoyed the tour very much and would thoroughly recommend it.

We had a very pleasant day visiting Kaeng Krachan national park. The guide spoke well English and showed us different birds, monkeys and reptiles. He was really friendly. The tour was all organized.

We booked the 1 day trip in Kaeng Krachan on short notice. The communication during the booking was great. We communicated that we would be open to join others and so we went with another couple as a joined group.
As this is a true national park where nothing is staged, we kept our expectations of seeing animals low. However we were surprised by how many animals we saw - even elephants.
Our guide and driver were both exceptionally good. The guide was a studied biologist specialized on birds, but he also was able to answer any question about all the animals we saw. Without him, we probably would have seen much less of the animals.
We definitely recommend to book a guide here - you'll get the best quality of tour possible and simply more out of your time there. We also talked with locals from the area who strongly recommended to do so as it is the safest way.

We booked a full day tour of Kaeng Krachan National Park along with a return transfer from our hotel about 70 km away.
Everything was very easy to arrange through the National park website. The transfer was very prompt and efficient.
We were met at the park entrance by our guide and driver and from the very beginning they were exceptionally keen to show us as much wildlife and birds as possible. Our guide (Mont?) was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the park and wildlife with a particular interest in birds. He spoke excellent English and answered all our questions about the nature around us.
The whole day was an amazing experience and well worth the cost.

The organisation was very efficient. It was a great experience and we had much fun and the guide had a huge knowledge about the park and animals. He was very impressing and showed us animals we would never be capabel to see alone. He always tried his best to made our trip special and for showing us the most. In the end our trip was exactly like this.

We had a great experience.
Starting from the pre-tour service that was informative and attentive.
Then moving to the pick-up that was timely and kind.
And of corse the visit to the park itself. Our guide Nachanop is knowledgeble, smart and easy-going. He was informative and highlly instromental in getting us to all the right places and spotting a wide veriaty of creatures for us.
Last, the taxi bac was again kind and smooth.
