Private Tour | 1-day wildlife tour in Khao Yai
Why?
Khao Yai National Park deserves more than just a 1 day visit, but for those with limited time a day tour is still a great way to get a taste of the jungle.
The reserve is great for wildlife watching, but with just one day you will need quite a bit of luck.
What?
A day tour in Khao Yai contains hiking, safari drives, a visit to a waterfall and a scenic viewpoint. A mix of wildlife watching and enjoying scenery.
Itinerary
This is an example itinerary. The program might be changed due to weather conditions, accessibility issues or any other obstacles.
The tour is from 8 am to about 6 pm
We will meet you at your hotel or other pick-up location we agreed on.
The daytrip starts with a drive looking for wildlife like gibbons, hornbills, macaques and other animals along the road.
We continue the tour by heading to a trailhead to set out on a jungle hike to learn more about the forest inhabitants and the plantlife. Even if you're not lucky with wildlife encounters, the massive strangler fig trees make it all worthwhile. By the end of this walk we'll have a Thai lunch at one of the park restaurants.
We continue the program with a visit to one of Khao Yai's famous waterfalls known from Leonardio Di Caprio's "The Beach" movie, and the late afternoon we spend mostly by car to check the various saltlicks and foraging areas where elephants might show up.
At the end of the trip, you will be returned to your hotel or other destination we agreed on.
Where & When?
This trip departs from Pak Chong and can be booked all year-round. Pak Chong can be reached by public transport from Bangkok. If you are interested in a private transfer by taxi or minivan, just let us know! A taxi trip from Bangkok takes 2.5 hours, it costs 2,200 THB one way or 3,200 Baht for a round trip within the same day.
Our tours are operated all year round.
Important note
Please confirm with us before booking a hotel in Khao Yai area as we don't offer pickup if your hotel is too far away. Or because some hotel owners don't like their guests to be picked up by tour operators.

Such a great tour we had! Noi (guide) and Palm (driver) were so good at what they do and the day was planned out perfectly. Noi was super knowledgeable and passionate about finding wildlife for us, together with Palm, they were both so good at spotting even the smallest animals.
We started off right at the start looking for Gibbons high up in the trees. Did a 2 hour trek in the jungle trail and Noi taught us the different trees, wildlife that lives in the trails. We also got to spot Hornbills and see them fly over us, thanks to Noi and her super ears/eyes.
Lunch was hearty and good at the Canteen. After lunch, we saw more animals and waterfalls during our drive, and ended off with seeing an entire family of elephants!! This is not a guarantee as the park is HUGE but we were so fortunate.
Please bring a jacket/windbreaker as you'll need it for the truck drive - it gets windy and cold. You won't really need it once the truck stops (I went in mid Nov). They provide leech socks. Bring repellent.
Overall 10/10 would recommend!! Best to book with this site as their guides are so knowledgeable and they know each other too. We met others along the way and they were all v friendly and speak good english.

My visit to Khao Yai National Park was a wonderful experience. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and had great awareness of the area. He did everything he could to ensure we were able to see some beautiful wild animals, including Hornbills and a whole Elephant family at dusk. I appreciate his commitment to us having a great experience. I recommend Khao Yai and a guided tour to anyone visiting Thailand. I will return to see more

We had an excellent trip around the National Park with Apple our driver and guide. Apple was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the park including the animals, insects and flowers. We also really appreciated the way he tailored the day as we were with our 84 year old father who couldn’t walk long distances. We would certainly recommend this day tour. Thank you.

Me, my husband and my 14 year old daughter really enjoyed the tour. Seeing wild life is not easy (you need patience and luck!). We did not see elephants, but we saw some other animals among which a unexpected giant scorpion, a family of gibbons and beautiful “banana birds” as my daughter called them. Our guide Rose and the good driver (I didn’t get the girl’s name, sorry!) were very nice and enthusiastic and they allowed us to get all our our time! ขอบคุณ!!

Our guide was excellent and very experienced, has great passion of showering us anything that he can, and especially chased the elephants successfully for few times, and we were very lucky to experience all these moments, especially in a very close distance, it's all because of the experience and passion of our guide, Thank you so much! and the drop off and pick up drivers were excellent too, punctual and in good manners in personality and driving safe. We really enjoyed our tour to Khao Yai. The communication via email/the website went really smoothly and TonTan travel did a great job staying in touch with us and providing us with the right information. Ryan was our guide for the day and he was amazing. He went out of his way to show us as many animals and plants as possible. His English was good and he looked after us very well. We had a lovely lunch near the visitor centre. All in all it was a great day! Thank you!
