Private Tour | 1-day wildlife tour with night safari in Khao Yai
Why?
Besides what a 1 day tour offers, combining one day tour with a night safari well after the dark will give you a chance to see both diurnal and nocturnal wildlife of Khao Yai National Park.
What?
A 1-day tour will start in the morning and end well after the dark. Activities include hiking in the jungle, safari driving among the roads in search of elephants and other exciting animals, safari drives in the morning and later afternoon, visiting a viewpoint and one of Khao Yai's impressive waterfalls and finally ending the day with a night safari.
Itinerary
The itinerary below is just an example and can easily be turned upside down due to the length of different activities. We adapt to mother nature and customers' interests.
We will meet you at your hotel or other pick-up location we agreed on.
The tour always starts around 8 to 8:30 am with a slow drive through jungle and grasslands in search of wildlife. Once we arrive at the first hiking point we continue the trip in the rain forest between huge trees in search of any type of animal.
After lunch the first stop will be Haew Suwat Waterfall, known from Leonardio Di Caprio's "The Beach" movie, possibly continuing the tour to one of the best viewpoints of the national park. Last couple of hours before dinner will be an ideal time for searching for elephants.
After the dinner break our tour will end with a night safari in search of nocturnal wildlife, thereafter you will be returned to your hotel or other location we agreed on around 8 to 9 pm.
Where & when?
Khao Yai National Park is around 2.5 hours from Bangkok, easily accessible with public transportation with minivans being the fastest way. Our private guides will meet you in your hotel in Pak Chong -which is the nearest city- or anywhere between Pak Chong and Khao Yai National Park.
We can arrange a taxi from Bangkok on request. It takes 2.5 hours, it costs 2,200 Baht one way or 3,200 Baht for a round trip within the same day.
The park is open and accessible all year round but for night safaris we strongly recommend to avoid week-ends and public holidays when there are too many vehicles on the roads, reducing the chance to see animals significantly. The weather can be pretty cool during the cold season around November to February, so a sweater is a must!
Important note
Please confirm with us before booking a hotel in Khao Yai area as we don't offer pickup if your hotel is too far away. Or because some hotel owners don't like their guests to be picked up by tour operators.

We had a lovely and adventurous day and a nightsafari at the nationalpark. Our tourguide 'Apple' took care of us and made it an absolutely amazing experience for us. He took us to many different places to watch rare wildlife (even elephants), birds and plants. Kop Khun ka for this wonderful day.

Loved Khao Yai! Our guide Khun Apple was knowledgeable and fun. Would definitely do again. Saw elephant, lots and lots of gibbons....love there vocalizing, porcupines, Samba and Barking deer, jackals among others. Best to start as early in th morning as possible to get best views.

Great visit and great guide. The night tour is not worth the time and money spent, but the day tour is definitely worth it!

Dear Xavier,
Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that your night drive portion of the trip was not worth it.
I am glad that despite that you've left a 5-star rating. Perhaps because you realise that we have warned in our first email message to you and in our full explanation in our blog post on why the quality of the night safaris varies, that we have no influence on how this activity is carried out. Sometimes it works out fine, and unfortunately sometimes it doesn't. It's unfortunate you were not lucky. But it sounds like our guide did a great job during the daytime program which is the part in which our guides are in full control.
Thank you for your feedback!

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed the tour. The taxi was late for pick up at the end with delayed the rest of the day. The hotel was very old and needs upgrading. It functions but was not pleasant to stay in. The entire package was overpriced and we expected a much better hotel for that price. I can send photos if you provide a platform to send to.

Dear Kalwant,
We're glad to hear that you've enjoyed the tour. After all, that's the main service we provide.
Even though we've helped with booking a local hotel, we do not own any hotels, and don't have control over the quality of hotels. However, we will pass your comments to the hotel owner. We've not had any negative comments on the rooms of that particular hotel in the past, so I am not sure why the room you've been provided was as poor as you've described. However, at 1300 baht per night, it's actually one of the cheaper options in close vicinity to the park entrance. But standards vary throughout the country for similar price ranges. The hotels in the Khao Yai area are generally quite high priced unfortunately.
Unfortunately it's not possible to upload images on the ThaiNationalParks.com platform.
Thank you for your feedback.

Thanks. The hotel owner was pleasant and the review isn’t aimed at her hotel. If you wish to share with her that is your choice but we actually found her to be very helpful especially when your driver was 40 minutes late. As the tour organiser, you should be aware of the quality of hotels you are offering and provide full disclosure. If there is a way to share photos then I can send them to you as you should be transparent with customers. You may not be in control of hotels or quality but you are our point of contact and making a profit from selling these packages and that comes with responsibility.

We had a phenomenal day out with our guide from Tontan Travel organised through Thai National Parks.
Our guide Em was very enthusiastic and skilled at finding wildlife. We were lucky to see lots of birds, reptiles and even elephants. Seeing elephants and other wildlife is luck on the day but even if you don’t see much the national park is beautiful. We enjoyed the day safari and night safari, I do recommend reading the blog about the night safari and why it might be hit or miss, for us we were very lucky to see lots of wildlife.
Can’t wait to return and would recommend this to anyone who loves wildlife.

We enjoyed our private wildlife tour with Jum! She's proficient in English, passionate, experienced, knowledgable and patient in sharing interesting information with us. Thanks to her sharp eyes, we were able to spot various animals, insects and extremely lucky to sight elephants at the night safari. Will definitely recommend this amazing tour experience to our friends!

My tour guide is JUM. She is experienced, professional, and proficient in English. She can identify the species we found and observe the species that are not easy to find. It was a wonderful experience.

My wife enjoyed a fantastic day with our guide Alex. Booking was easy and surpassed all our expectations. Alex couldn't have been more helpful, providing information about the park, plants and animals.
We saw gibbons, hornbills, various other birds, monkeys, scorpions, snakes and more. The highlight however was watching the wild elephants in their natural habitat.
An amazing day that I have no hesitation in recommending to others.
