Khao Yai National Park

Private Tour | 2-days wildlife tour in Khao Yai

Why?

With a 2-day hiking in the jungle you'll see some of Khao Yai's highlights and very likely some exciting species like gibbons, macaques, hornbills, deers and with a bit luck maybe even elephants!

What?

The 2-days tour in Khao Yai includes hiking in the jungle, daytime safari drives, a night safari drive and visiting some major highlights of the park like waterfalls and viewpoints. The jungle hiking will mainly focus on seeing as much of wildlife as possible but also include visiting some beautiful scenery of the park.

Itinerary

Our trips start and end daily at your hotel or other locations we agreed on.

The itinerary below is only an example. The program may change depending on your interests or how much time you spend on different locations.

Day 1 - From 8 - 8:30 am till about 8 - 9 pm

The first day tour starts with a slow drive along the main road into the park for wildlife observation, then hiking in the jungle.

After the lunch break we will visit Haew Narok which is the highest and most impressive waterfall of the park and also visit saltlicks and other areas where wild elephants tend to visit.

After the dinner tour continues with an exciting night safari using spotlights to spot nocturnal wildlife.

Day 2 - From 8 - 8:30 am till about 5 - 6 pm

We will spend the morning hiking in the jungle to find more interesting animals.

After the lunch break we will visit the other two important highlights of the park; Haew Suwat waterfall known from Leonardio Di Caprio's "The Beach" movie and a viewpoint with a great view over Khao Yai's jungle.

Later on in the afternoon the tour will end depending on the choice of a daytime safari along the roads for search of elephants or visiting the bat caves outside the park boundaries.

After the end of the tour you'll be returned to your hotel.

Very good trip with a good mix of 'car' safari and hiking.

Exellent guide!

The night (evening) safari turned out to be a pretty crowded experience with too many cars making noise and smoke. In a way an exiting idea, but too many cars.

We had a 1.5 day tour through the park with a private guide and driver just before New Year's Eve. Although the park was very busy with lots of local tourists, we had a great time. Our guide was knowledgeable, had a keen eye for spying wildlife and was very friendly. Full credit to her and the driver for making this a very enjoyable trip.

We did not spot an elephant, but saw plenty of other wildlife: Monitors, deer, a gaur, civets, billhorns, lots of other birds, giant squirils, porcupines etc.

The tour organisers helped us organise transfers to and from Bangkok by private taxi. These too were punctual and pleasant rides.

Finally the food included in the deal was excellent. We can certainly recommend the tour!

We really enjoyed our trip. What a beautifull nature.

Our guide, M, was very enthusiastic and did every thing possible to see the elephants. Unfortunately we did not get to see them. But we had a great 2 Day trip.

Guide we had was not good. He did not offer any information about the park or even brief us the itinerary and we need to keep asking questions to get information. He’s more like a driver than a guide.

Also, other than the short trek of about an hour to try to see the birds, he did not follow us to both the waterfalls and merely told us that it is a one way route and that he will be waiting for us at the entrance point.

Not worth the THB 4100 we paid per person for the 2 day tour. Saw from Klook that the 2 day tour was less than half the price of what we paid.

> Tour operator's response

Dear Stacey & Eugenia,

We are sad to hear the guide did not meet your expectation. A surprise for us because the same guide gets great reviews all the time. So I don't quite understand why your experience is the opposite. Our guide was equally surprised and mentioned you were a very friendly group. I am sure he didn't find that out by not communicating as you seem to suggest.

However our guide mentioned that you requested to visit some touristic sites outside the national park (quite a long distance outside of the park in fact) that are not part of our tour itineraries because we focus on nature and wildlife. Despite that, our guide tried to accommodate to some of your requests but due to time limitations we understand you were not happy about the amount of time that was spend there. It's unfortunate we didn't know in advance that you wished to visit those sites on the tour, we could have informed you in advance that that's not something we offer.

Lastly, most tour packages available on Klook are not like our tours. No doubt there are cheaper packages available for a variety of reasons like different itineraries or duration (we often see packages sold as 2- or 3-day tour when in fact the time spend in the park is only 1 or 1.5-days).

Perhaps in this case if you looked for more of a touristic type of tour, it would have been a better option for you. But that is not what we specialize in.

We hope that despite this experience that you had a great holiday.

We are fortunate to get Tata as our guide for 2 days. His expert knowledge of the forest and dedication to the preservation of nature made a permanent impression on us. We even pick up tips on nature photography.

Very good guide, good luck with weather and animals. What more could one want?

Could have been more elephants, but that is nature for you.

Tata is therefore highly recommended. Always knew something to say to any questions he got asked.
