2-Day Wildlife Tour in Kaeng Krachan National Park
Kaeng Krachan National Park is Thailand's largest national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to gibbons, langurs, macaques, leopards, clouded leopards, elephants, civets, porcupines and more than 420 recorded bird species — making it one of the country's top birdwatching destinations. This 2-day tour is designed to make the most of that biodiversity, combining early-morning and late-afternoon safari drives with guided forest walks, a streamside trail rich in birdlife, and a hike to the atmospheric Hua Chang Cave. Spotting wildlife always involves a bit of luck, but two full days spent moving through the park's different habitats gives you the best possible chance.

*Important Pick-up Information: Not every hotel is within our pick-up range for this tour. Since Kaeng Krachan is a fairly remote park, we highly recommend confirming your hotel's exact location with us before booking your accommodation, so that a pick-up from the Kaeng Krachan town. Transfers from Bangkok, Cha-am, Hua Hin can be arranged.
Detailed Day Itinerary
Day 1: Forest Drives, Streamside Trail & Sunset Safari
Hotel Pickup
We will meet you at your hotel or another agreed pick-up location to begin your 2-day adventure in Kaeng Krachan.
Entering the Park
We enter the national park and start with a slow drive, actively looking for wildlife along the road as the forest wakes up.
Forest Clearings & Ponds
We stop at some open forest clearings or ponds along the way to look for birdlife and other creatures that come out into these open spaces.
Listening & Scanning for Wildlife
We continue on foot, moving slowly through the jungle to listen and scan for any of the animals that occur here, from calling birds to signs of larger mammals.
Lunch at the Park Restaurant
We take a break for lunch at the park restaurant. Even around here, you might spot interesting birdlife or other wildlife while you eat.
Streamside Forest Trail
In the afternoon we walk a dirt road through tall forest along a stream, offering good views into the canopy. This area is rich in bird species, but there's also a chance to see mammals and other critters.
Safari Drive to Waterholes
We spend the late afternoon on a safari drive, exploring waterholes and forest edges along the road where hopefully we will see some more species.
Return Transfer
The tour ends and we drop you off at your hotel.
Day 2: Morning Safari, Hua Chang Cave & Final Search
Hotel Pickup
We will meet you at your hotel to begin your second day of exploration.
Safari Drive Into the Park
The day starts with a safari drive into the park.
Forest Clearings & Ponds
We stop at some open forest clearings or ponds to look for birdlife and other creatures.
Listening & Scanning the Jungle
We continue on foot, listening and scanning for any animals that occur in the jungle.
Lunch at the Park Restaurant
We have lunch at the park restaurant.
Hike to Hua Chang Cave
After lunch, we do a hike to the Hua Chang cave.
Final Safari Drive
In the remaining time of the late afternoon we drive again past various waterholes and forest clearings to test our luck one last time before we leave the park.
Return Transfer
The tour ends and we drop you off at your hotel, or you can meet your taxi onward to your next destination.
What to Pack & Preparation Tips
- Footwear: Closed-toe hiking shoes or sturdy sports shoes are recommended for walking on forest trails and dirt roads.
- Attire: Long trousers and lightweight, breathable long-sleeved shirts are highly recommended to protect against branches and insects.
- Leech Socks: During the rainy season (May-October), leech socks are highly recommended. Your guide will provide them if necessary.
- Sun & Insect Protection: Mosquito repellent, sunscreen, and a hat.
- Gear: A small daypack for water, and binoculars or a camera for wildlife and birdwatching.

We had a fantastic 2 day tour of Kaeng Krachan national park. The trails are great with some fantastic sites and viewpoints. Seen lots of monkeys and numerous species of bird. Our guide and driver were absolutley brilliant and very knowledgable.

We had two fantastic days at Kaeng Krachan National Park. Our guide was highly professional and showed great flexibility in adapting his plan to our wishes.
We were truly impressed by his ability to detect wildlife. Thanks to his skills, we were able to observe a wide variety of birds, monkeys, small mammals, insects, and reptiles. The highlight of our experience was seeing a wild elephant in the jungle—an unforgettable moment.
This was a truly memorable experience that we will cherish for a long time.

We enjoyed our tour at Kaen Krachan and our guide was really good. He had a lot of knowledge and did everything in his hands to show us as many animals as possible. We give 4 stars only because we were a bit unfortunate not to see many animals, but as stated, this was completely independent of our guide.

Thank you for an excellent 2 days in Kaeng Krachan NP. The service received from my guide Mong was first class, along with his driver. They were on time each day, and made sure that I saw as many of my target birds as possible, with both patience and good humour. I felt well looked after at all times, and I have no hesitation in recommending their services unequivocally, well done!

It is nice to be in the National Park!
To start the tour at 6am feels to early, dark and cold. Day 2 we started at 7 am, much better! The tour car very dirty!
The tour guide rather enthusiastic, good willing but not so experienced. A good briefing is important which we never had!
All in all, we were lucky to see leopard, gibbons…We are nature lover, injoyed the tour!

We thoroughly enjoyed our two-day private tour. Our guide, Bank, was an excellent spotter and identifier of wildlife and birds. We had two different drivers, one on each day; they were also excellent spotters and just as excited as the rest of us to find wildlife and birds. We found the park to be quite beautiful and the lack of tourists (compared to Khao Yai National Park) to be a plus. We appreciated that Bank did not rush any of our wildlife viewing; we were afforded plenty of time to watch their behaviors. We saw 44 different bird species our first day and 32 the second day (some of which were repeats from the first day). Highlights included watching several dozen Oriental pied and brown hornbills flying in to feed on fig tree fruits, dusky leaf monkeys, white-handed gibbons, and huge water monitors. We highly recommend this tour.

With much know how, care and passion about the park and its animals our guide Moe created two perfect days.
Here are the animals focused and Moe mindes a varied day - from elephant to birds, makakes and gibbons to spiders and snakes.

We booked a 2-day tour to Kaeng Krachan national park with pick-up from our hotel 6.00 AM the first day, and 5.30 AM the second day. We were back at our hotel at 7 PM, so do expect LONG days.
But the animals we were excited to see, are most active in mornings and evenings.
The tour consists of a mixture of sightings from car and hiking along trails. Do expect some bumpy roads and moderate difficulty on the trails.
But the tour is all worth it, even though we didn´t encounter any big feline as hoped.
Our guide was very good at explaining and knew a great deal about the animals, plants and landscape we passed. He was also eminent at spotting birds and other animals hiding in the forest.
Thanks for a great experience, the whole family learning a lot about Thailands wildlife in those 2 days.
